His obituary was published in the Rideau Record June 11th, 1891. One by one the pioneer settlers of this country are laid low by the hand of death and called away from the scenes and the associations as familiar and dear to them. The latest to obey the summons in this district is Mr. Abraham Code, who died at his home in Montague on Friday, after a lingering illness of several months. He had reached the ripe old age of 74 years and as were his years so was the esteem in which he was held by all his wide circle of acquaintances. He was buried on Sunday and his funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Smith's Falls. 117 vehicles is said being in line. The remains were taken to St. John's church, where service was conducted by the rector, Rev. Mr. Nesbitt and thence to the cemetery.
